The Sikkha Asia Kindergarten renovation project

In September 2023 Teenworks members visited the Sikkha nursing Kindergarten school in Bangkok to evaluate what we could do to help improve the learning environment for the children and to build relationships with the teachers and students.

Following this visit we decided to start a art project to create fun and educational paintings to enable the children to have a fun experience whilst learning. We also decided to help to cover the costs for repairing various areas around the school like bathrooms. Our members worked hard to gather volunteers who helped to paint walls in the classrooms on a day where the students weren't in so that we did not disrupt their learning.

We came back a week later to play with the children and find out if they liked the refurbished spaces and to our delight, they loved it! We also dished out snacks and had a special lunch prepared for the students and teachers. All of our members enjoyed this experience and it has taught us a lot about how children learn better in environments that they are more comfortable in and how easy it is to make someone's day!
